Abstract

The observations of falling-body experiments with respect to gravitational effects, were discussed. The views by Commander David R Scott that objects of different mass fall at the same time in vacuum, are associated with Galileo and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Thomas Settle repeated Galileo's falling-body experiments and suggested that fatigue induced in the hand holding the heavier object tends to cause this hand to let go more slowly. Aristotle also codified the falling body observation into an entire framework involving an agent that exerted a force against resistance.
