Abstract
A discussion on the concept of scientific leadership is presented. Scientific leadership involves much more than the discoveries or contribution to new facilities. When present, it is all but transparent, allowing groups of people to keep their energies kindled and their attention focused, reducing rivalries and conflicts generated from within and minimizing the distractions and impositions.
