Abstract
The cubic, nonparamagnetic alloy, 235UIr2, was found to be a good host for the preservation of nuclear alignment in the g-factor measurement of the τ = 122(10) ns fission isomer of 237Pu. This paper discusses, in detail, the preparation of the thin-film targets used in this measurement. These techniques were found to apply to other similar actinide alloys such as NpRu2.
