Abstract

Measurements of the gas-phase production rates of α-(nitrooxy)acetone, propylene glycol dinitrate (PGDN), 2-hydroxypropyl nitrate (2-HPN), and 2-(nitrooxy)propyl alcohol (2-NPA) in a C3H6/N2O5/air dark reaction and a C3H6/NOx/air irradiation are reported. The probable operative reaction mechanisms are discussed, and the branching ratios for peroxy radical reaction with NO via RO2 + NO → RONO2 vs. RO2 + NO → RO + NO2 are estimated for CH3CH(OO)CH2OH and CH3CH(OH)C-H2OO radicals.
