Abstract
The pseudoscalar nonet mass spectrum and vacuum decay constants are discussed using generalized Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models. It is shown that in the large Nc limit the bulk parameters of the pseudoscalars follow from chiral symmetry alone and do not depend on the detailed choice of the various interaction terms. Overall, the results compare favourably with the data.
