Abstract
We review our recent holographic conjecture matching the transition from a dilute to a dense system of partons in deep inelastic scattering off a large target to the formation of a tiny black hole in the critical gravitational collapse of a perfect uid in dimension five. At small 't Hooft coupling and very large center-of-mass energies the onset of unitarity in perturbative QCD is interpreted, in the context of holographic renormalization, as the formation of a horizon due to the nonlinear gravitational dynamics in the bulk.
