Abstract
The shallow (less than 100 ft) stratigraphy of the Lower Bay floor was investigated in order to estimate the volume of sand and gravel deposits under the Lower Bay. In general, marine sands overlie unconsolidated Cretaceous sediments. Along the margins of the Bay, sands are known to rest on fine-grained deposits at depth; the composition of layers underlying the surficial sand deposits in the central and eastern Bay is unknown. -from US Govt Reports Announcements, 22, 1981
