title = "Tracking of Objects in a Passive Backscattering Tag-to-Tag Network",
abstract = "In this paper, we address the problem of tracking objects with a network of passive tags that communicate with each other based on the principle of backscattering. The tags are RF powered and are able to passively reflect an external RF signal. While reflecting the signal, they also modulate it and thereby they transmit information. Based on the features of the signals they receive from their neighbors, the tags are capable of detecting if there is a new object in their proximity. They operate without access to absolute time, and they are not synchronized in any sense. We propose an approach for detecting an object, a protocol for communication among the tags while reporting the presence of the object to a center for data processing, and a method for estimating the trajectory of the object based on the received information from the tags.",
