Abstract
The temperature dependence of the ab-plane electrical transport was investigated on a series of single-crystal Bi2Sr2YxCa1-xCu2O8 samples with a wide range of yttrium content. The observed metal-insulator transition is discussed in terms of two-dimensional localization. The Hall-effect and thermopower results indicate that the driving force of the localization is the random impurity potential.
