Abstract
Ultrasonic wave propagation in trabecular bone was investigated using wave reflection and transmission in a multilayered medium. A consistent pattern of the frequency dependence of ultrasound attenuation coefficient was observed between simulation and experimental measurement of trabecular bone. The results show that the ultrasound velocity in trabecular bone is highly correlated with the bone apparent density.
