Abstract
Quevedo's comedic poetry, both satyrical or burlesque, represents a fundamental facet of his literary work. Although this type of poetry was despised by scholars and critics, Quevedo and his contemporaries were conscious of its importance as a genre. Because of this, don Francisco subjected these satyrical-burlesque poems to a rewriting process similar to the one he used on the rest of his poetry and prose. In this article, it is analysed the effects of his rewriting process on a satyrical sonnet, «‘Antes que el repelón' eso fue antaño», which caricatures an old woman in a hyperbolic way.
