Abstract
The water-table elevation responded to tidal conditions. The range of variation in the water-table elevation was suppressed with distance shoreward and also reduced, apparently by the seepage of ground water into the swash zone, near the shoreline. The water-table oscillation propagated shoreward at speeds of between 7 and 20 m/hr and seemed to be substantially influenced by the continued seaward flow of fresh ground water. -from Authors
