Abstract
A series of X-ray fluorescence and reflectivity measurements was performed on interfaces between monodisperse normal polystyrene (PS) or deuterated polystyren (d-PS) and poly-co-bromostyrene (PBrxS) of various molecular weights. To ensure immiscibility the PBrxS was almost completely brominated, and the degree of bromination, x ≥ 0.9, was determined for each molecular weight by 13C-NMR and mass spectroscopy. Detailed analysis of both the reflectivity and fluorescence data with regard to sensitivity to the form of interfacial profile and the influence of roughness is given. In addition the dependence of the interface width on molecular weight and annealing time is discussed.
