X-ray microscopy in polymer science: prospects of a new imaging technique

Abstract

The paper presents a new, relatively non-invasive imaging technique which employs high focussed, tunable x-rays that can be used to investigate the surface and bulk characteristics of heterophase polymeric materials. Several unstained heterophase polymers with very high contrast were imaged to demonstrate the chemical sensitivity of X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES).
